The jet pack first appeared in the game Halo: Reach and later in Halo 4. It also appeared in Duke Nukem 3D, Jetpack Joyride, and BloodRayne. It also appeared in the Pilotwings series, where it is called the "Rocket Belt." Other games featuring jet packs include Fallout 4 and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. A new jet pack power armor was added in Grand Theft Auto Online. The jet pack also appears in Red Alert 2.

Other potential uses for jet packs include engineers, first responders, and maintenance workers. Its autopilot feature could prove useful in security and militarization situations, or even for pure pleasure. Another feature of the jet pack is its ability to land on its own. The device can be set to land safely if an emergency situation occurs, and can even detect a malfunction and react accordingly.
