You can customize your iPhone or iPad with 3D Touch. For example, when you deep-press a web link, the app will show you a preview of that page. You can also choose to open a menu for an app by applying pressure to the edge of the screen. This feature works with most Apple native apps. You can also use it to swipe between apps.

While you can still use 3D Touch with the default apps, many apps are starting to implement the feature. It allows you to access actions in an app faster and more easily. You can open menus and shortcuts in just a few seconds by pressing and holding compatible apps' icons. For example, pressing and holding the icon of the camera app will launch the selfie camera, while pressing and holding the map app icon will open the location menu.

In addition to the standard menus and apps, 3D Touch also allows users to interact with notifications. One new feature is the Peek and Pop feature. This allows you to peek at selected notifications without leaving the current page. You can also press and hold the notification to open it in a pop-up screen. This feature is available on the Lock screen and the Notification Center. A peek at an iMessage message lets you reply to it without having to open the app.

The new iPhones come with 3D Touch as a default. However, you can always turn it off. You can also tweak settings in the Settings to customize the gestures.
