Monster Card Battle is a game where you place monster cards onto a battlefield and try to beat your opponent's monsters. Monsters with higher attack power, speed, and defense will defeat those with lower stats. The more powerful monsters will also attack your opponent's monsters directly, depleting their health bar. The game is a mix of luck and strategy, and there are several ways to win.

Players can choose to play as male or female characters and can also play as a team of two monsters. In the game, players can choose between a Power, Miracle, or Speed team. After choosing a team, they will have to go through a series of temples in order to earn more cards. Once the player has defeated a temple boss, they unlock a disk to open in town.

The game's basic mechanics are similar to those of Yu-Gi-Oh and Duel Masters. In each battle, a player chooses from a deck of 50 cards. Each monster has a different number of HP and Guts. Unlike its predecessor, Monster Rancher Battle Card was a flop in English translation.
